Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 28, 2026  ·  Effective: April 28, 2026

This policy explains how FixMyAC ("getfixmyac.com") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our platform.

Information we collect

Information you provide

When you create an account, request a service, or apply as a technician, we collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, and payment details. Technician applicants also provide professional license numbers, certifications, and identity documents.

Information collected automatically

When you use our platform, we automatically collect device identifiers, IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, and timestamps. We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences.

Location data

With your permission, we collect precise location data to match you with nearby technicians, provide real-time tracking, and calculate service areas. You can disable location access in your device settings, though this may limit platform functionality.

How we use your information

Providing our services

We use your information to create and manage your account, process service requests, match clients with technicians, facilitate payments, and send service-related communications including booking confirmations, technician updates, and receipts.

Safety and security

We use your information to verify technician identities and licenses, conduct background checks, detect and prevent fraud, investigate disputes, and maintain the safety of our platform and community.

Improving our platform

We analyze usage patterns and feedback to improve our matching algorithms, optimize the user experience, develop new features, and train our support systems. This analysis is performed on aggregated and anonymized data where possible.

Sharing your information

Between clients and technicians

When a service request is accepted, we share relevant details between the client and technician — including name, contact information, service address, and job details — necessary to complete the service.

Service providers

We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the platform: payment processors, background check providers, cloud storage, analytics services, and customer support tools. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.

Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.

Data retention

Active accounts

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Technician records including license and background check data are retained for the duration of the professional relationship.

Account deletion

You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will remove or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, regulatory, or fraud prevention purposes.

Your rights

Access and portability

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and, in certain jurisdictions, to receive it in a portable format. You can request a copy of your data by contacting our support team.

Correction and deletion

You can update most of your personal information directly in your account settings. For information you cannot update yourself, or to request deletion, contact us at the email below.

Opt-out

You can opt out of non-essential marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting us directly. Note that service-related communications (booking confirmations, receipts) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

Security

How we protect your data

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for data in transit and AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest. Payment information is processed through PCI-DSS compliant providers and never stored on our servers. We conduct regular security audits and penetration testing.

Breach notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant regulatory authorities in accordance with applicable law, typically within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
